A Fairytale

“Once upon a time” is usually how these things begin, but this tale doesn’t apply to just one time or place. You can find mention of it in almost every civilization in the Milky Way and its neighbors, if our records are reliable (of course they are). Not without effort in most cases, but it is there. A forgotten pictogram in an ancient ruin, a footnote in an academic volume, a story transcribed in sand that’s blown away when you look again. It’s there; it exists in the corner of your eye. Just as we do.
The tale – more of a supposition, perhaps, but that’s often the way with these fragments of ancient mythologies – goes like this: there is not one plane of existence experienced by living beings in everyday life, but multiple. When dreaming or exercising the imagination, organisms are in fact accessing the wavelength of different dimensions outside the wavelength of space and time. One such example of this concept in broader culture is the notion of “Ideaspace” advanced by obscure Earth philosopher Alan Moore.
