A Fairytale
Compiled by RowenPhisorBecht

“Once upon a time” is usually how these things begin, but this tale doesn’t apply to just one time or place. You can find mention of it in almost every civilization in the Milky Way and its neighbors, if our records are reliable (of course they are). Not without effort in most cases, but it is there. A forgotten pictogram in an ancient ruin, a footnote in an academic volume, a story transcribed in sand that’s blown away when you look again. It’s there; it exists in the corner of your eye. Just as we do.

The tale – more of a supposition, perhaps, but that’s often the way with these fragments of ancient mythologies – goes like this: there is not one plane of existence experienced by living beings in everyday life, but multiple. When dreaming or exercising the imagination, organisms are in fact accessing the wavelength of different dimensions outside the wavelength of space and time. One such example of this concept in broader culture is the notion of “Ideaspace” advanced by obscure Earth philosopher Alan Moore.

Museum:

(In theory, this would be an actual exhibit covering 2000-2100 with  artifacts both related to Project Charon and also the downfall of earth, but I just did 2019-2021 as a proof of concept with what I had at home)

These three artifacts are in the Millenium Museum, and are a glimpse into the past, before we knew that the world as we knew it is dying.

From 2019: Otomatone

This frivolous, goose-like musical instrument was a staple of online culture during these times. This otomatone was owned by Erica Decker, older sister of Kara Decker, known whistleblower.

From 2020: Nintendo Switch Dock and Game

This piece of technology was part of a limited edition ‘Animal Crossing’ Nintendo Switch bundle owned by Katherine Coble, mother of astronaut Jessica Coble and grandmother of astronaut and Fate pilot Margot Coble.

From 2021: Homemade Face Mask

When it became clear that our earth was at a point of no return, many people began making face masks to control the level of polluted air they were ingesting, especially in large cities.
